Dillon Patel’s Family

Dillon Patel was born on March 14, 1994, and is a native of Florida. He is one of three children born to Dipak and Kalpna Patel.

The family lives in Miami on the “Patel Compound,” which is a cluster of houses on the same property. Dillon’s return to the Patel Compound is one of the main stories this season.

Dillon; his brother, Shaan Patel; and his sister, Kayla Patel, are, of course, of Indian origin. Shaan revealed his grandfather and their community settled in Miami in the ‘70s. Dillon’s Instagram bio also hints at Jamaican ancestry.

Their mother Kalpna, who is of Indian descent, grew up in England and settled in Miami. She was co-owner and operator of AAAA World Inc. in Doral for about 30 years. Currently, she and her husband, Dipak Patel, own the design and development firm Tanin Group.

Kayla graduated from Rollins College this year. Meanwhile, Shaan and his fiancee Pooja Patel are celebrating their engagement.

Dillon Patel’s Career

Dillon Patel graduated from Duke University, class of 2016, with a BS in economics. During his time at Duke, Dillon was actively involved in campus life. He used to write opinion pieces for The Chronicle often on the most current and profound social topics, including same-sex relationships. He also did study abroad and earned a certification in entrepreneurial and small business operations from Columbia University.

As seen through his social media, Dillon enjoys participating in Pride marches and events that showcase his passion for advocacy and inclusion. This commitment is representative of his professional and personal life: to promote awareness and representation.

He started his professional life in 2013 as a digital marketing associate at Spreever in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale Area. While at Duke, he had also contributed to the growth and development of its university-wide digital platforms through marketing and communications. These precursor roles set up a foundation of operations and management skills.

After college, Dillon made his way from the Patel Compound in Florida to California for opportunities. He then joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, starting as an intern, moving to management consulting associate, and then to experienced associate. In three years, Dillon gained insider knowledge in consulting and operations that set the stage for the next big step.

Dillon joined Zendesk in 2018, one of the leading customer service software companies, as a manager, and he rose through the career ladder very fast to be a senior manager of Global Operations by 2020. During his tenure at Zendesk, Dillon’s strategic insights and leadership skills have played a very important role in optimizing the company’s operations on a global scale.

Dillon’s career path reflects both hard work and his adaptability. From marketing to consulting to operations management, he has never shied away from a challenge, always embracing them with an attitude toward growth and excellence. Now back in Florida and finally stepping into the spotlight himself on Family Karma, Dillon remains an inspiration through his accomplishments, advocacy, and commitment to family and community.

He left PwC in 2018 and began working with Zendesk. He was a manager and, as of 2020, is the senior manager of global operations.
