Cooke Maroney’s Parents Are Farmers
New Yorker Cooke Maroney was reportedly born on July 3, 1984. In 1986, when he was two years old, his parents, James Maroney and Suki Fredericks, moved from Manhattan, New York to Leicester, Vermont for the quiet, rural life.
Dairy farming had been a part of James Maroney’s life since he was a young boy working on Martha’s Vineyard. Not wanting to raise Cooke in the time-constricted city landscape, James and Suki transitioned to farm life on Oliver Hill Farm, a 775-acre property with a total of around 300 livestock, including 125 milking cows, and about six farmhands.
In 1990, Oliver Hill Farm was the largest organic milk producer in Vermont. However, a fire in 1994 led the family to auction off their livestock.
James and Suki slowed down their farming work in later years. They now raise chickens and sell eggs while renting out their land to organic farmers. It has given them more time to pursue their artistic passions while encouraging other organic farmers in their efforts.
Maroney Is an Art Gallery Curator
Both James and Suki have an eye for art, as James was an art dealer and Suki a paintings conservator before taking up dairy farming. They still sell art pieces to galleries and collectors.
Cooke also followed his parents’ footsteps, returning to New York after graduating from Middlebury Union High School in Vermont. He graduated from NYU in 2007 with a degree in art history and is now an art gallery director at Gladstone Gallery. He previously worked at the Gagosian Gallery.

Maroney Married Jennifer Lawrence in October 2019
Jennifer Lawrence and Darren Aronofsky split up in 2017, and in spring 2018, she began dating a fellow New York resident, Cooke Maroney. They reportedly met through a mutual friend and their relationship progressed well, with Lawrence’s rep confirming the couple got engaged in February 2019.
They kept their relationship out of the public eye as much as possible. Nonetheless, the rumor mill was abuzz with speculation that they would get married this October, after they were spotted getting their marriage license at a NYC courthouse.
According to TMZ, Lawrence and Maroney tied the knot on October 19 at the Rhode Island mansion—more like a castle—Belcourt of Newport. The outlet also reported that the 150 guests would be treated to a mouth-watering menu of smoked pork belly with pickled apple, marshmallow s’mores, wood-roasted fish with herbs and lemon-infused butter, and five-week-aged leg of beef with forager’s sauce.
Their guest list included Lawrence’s famous friends like Kris Jenner, Emma Stone, Adele, and Amy Schumer.
